A Unique Journey To Owning A Coffee Shop

Years ago, Dayana and Ruben with their passion for serving people met Robin and Stella Mountain the owners of Ntaba Coffee Haus at Mom’s Music. Over time, they stayed connected, consistently supporting the business and admiring its mission to help people in need. During an interview, Robin Mountain shared exciting news—they were planning to franchise the coffee shop. This ignited a long-standing dream in Dayana & Ruben’s hearts: to own a breakfast spot where people could feel seen, loved, and cared for. Believing it could be their moment, they began working on their finances and committed to a 21-day fast, asking God for direction. Throughout those three weeks, they explored every possible avenue to gather the necessary funds—but each door seemed to close. Choosing not to panic, they remained still, trusting God to move in His timing.

Midway through the fast Ruben received a message from Robin Mountain saying they were closing the shops. A few weeks later, he got another message inviting them to a celebration for the sale of one of the locations. Dayana and Ruben arrived at the party just two minutes before it ended, at 1:58 PM. There, Dayana asked Robin & Stella why the stores were closing and what it would take to keep one open. Without hesitation, the owners said, “I’m just looking for somebody to take over the shop.” Without missing a beat, Dayana replied, “Give me the keys.” Training began that Sunday—fittingly, the final day of their fast.

After a week of paperwork and back-and-forth, they settled on a price. But just three weeks before the final agreement, during a televised interview with WLKY, the owner made a surprising announcement: he was gifting them the shop. The couple was stunned, unsure if it was a joke—but deep down, they knew it was divine. Today, the shop stands not just as a business, but as the Lord’s coffee shop—a place of refuge, peace, and community for all who walk through its doors, believers and non-believers alike.
